Who I Am
I am a writer for the Calhoun Times, located in the beautiful rolling foothills of Northwest Georgia. George, my awesome husband of 11 years, and I are raising our three daughters, Savannah, Chloe and Grace as well as his two sisters, Gabbie and Georganna to believe in the wonderful mercy and power of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
I graduated from North Georgia College and State University the senior military college of Georgia with a degree in English. It started out as a curious endeavor to experience what looked like a peculiar and fascinating culture of military colleges and turned into life changing experience. What I learned in four years of ROTC changed me mentally and spiritually. I wanted to capture and share that interesting world where college students strike a balance between the fun and restlessness of those early adult years and the harsh reality that many are training to face the inherent risks of defending a nation. The spiritually mature found, both when I was a cadet and when I returned to my alma mater for research, are reaching out and touching lives for Christ and most probably don't realize they are doing it.
Stating the obvious, I have a deep love and respect for our military, born of not only family tradition, but also having spent nine years in uniform -- seven in the Georgia Army National Guard as a photojournalist and two in the Army Reserve as a broadcast journalist.
