Chatt. Writers

Huge shout-out and THANK YOU to the Chattanooga Writers Guild! I spent a great evening with them Tuesday night, talking about how to write your novel when you don’t have time. The Lunchbreak Novelist is my signature platform but I’m still very new at this and I appreciate them allowing me to present. Their members are so kind and fun! Listening to them talk about what they write and their hopes and dreams was very encouraging.

I love being a cheerleader for other authors and I understand being busy. Many of us have not reached a level of authorship where we can abandon our jobs and simply write. Some of us, and I may be one of them, are on the fence about being a full-time writer. I was a full-time journalist for many, many years and even though it was different and varied, burnout is very real. This summer, since I was off, I made a goal to write full-time. The Disturbed, the sequel to The Disposable, is due to Colorful Crow Publishing and the beautiful Karli Land in September. Even with much of it written, I spend several hours a day writing, revising and editing and it’s hard. Maybe because the seat I sit in is hard, maybe because I didn’t vary my routine, maybe just because that level of concentration is hard. Whatever the reason, eight hours a day writing isn’t for everyone.

But, enough of that. If you are in the Chattanooga area and you are looking for a group of writers, I highly recommend connecting with the Chattanooga Writer’s Guild. They are supportive and energetic and so freaking nice! Check them out and tell them I sent you.
